Bali people, especially women, has never been separated from flowers. Yellow, red, white kamboja with special fragrance pouring the air. Janur or young coconut leaves, incense with sandalwood or cendana, bring all those flowers together in a solid orchestra.
I asked Ni Made Desa Perwani, why Balinese are so attached with flowers? She told me that Balinese always have three principles that become foundation of their every day life: tatwa (philosophical), susila (ethics, be kind to others), & upacara (estethics or beauty). “Beauty is part our principles, that’s why we love flowers so very much.”
